In addition to winning a Throwdown competition against Bobby Flay, Phil’s version of Mama Nina’s Cioppino has been featured on countless food shows, in magazines, newspapers and international media articles around the world Mama Nina’s delicious recipe was a key seed to our success and she would be so proud to know so many folks have enjoyed her Cioppino. The now world-famous recipe belonged to “Mama Nina”-Phil’s grandmother, Nina Catalano. In that early era we added our first food item, a family inspired Cioppino-to-go.

Phil began by primarily selling locally caught fish and, as we grew, customers began referring to the shop as “Phil’s Fish Market”. The original Phil’s Fish Market, known then as the Fish Market at Moss Landing, opened in 1982 in a tiny (250 square foot) industrial space on the island.
